Traits are a key gameplay mechanic in Halls of Torment, providing Heroes with various buffs.

Traits have Ranks indicated by Roman numerals, which are only added to the Trait Pool upon reaching a certain level.

Notes

  • There is currently a bug which causes certain traits to fail to get added to the pool, or get added much later than expected. This can occur on the second round onward after starting the game. The developers are currently working on a fix.
    • The only current workaround is to restart the game between each round.
  • Certain Base Traits have variants denoted by arrows.
    • ↑ denotes the default variant.
    • ⇈ denotes a strong variant.
    • ↗ denotes a weak variant.

Ability Trait

Ability Traits improve the effectiveness of Abilities, possibly at a compromise. There are 6 categories of Ability Traits:

  • Default: 2 categories are available by default. Their traits are available every 2 in 3 Ranks.
  • Mastery I: 2 categories require prior completion of the Ability's Mastery I Quest. Their traits are available every 1 in 2 Ranks.
  • Mastery III: 2 categories require prior completion of the Ability's Mastery III Quest. Their traits are available every 1 in 3 Ranks.

Only 1 Trait per category, Rank and Ability can be selected, unless Memory Potions are used.

For each Trait Rank, the Hero must attain a certain level for it to become available in the selection pool.

Class Trait

Class Traits improve the effectiveness of Heroes, possibly at a compromise. There are 3 categories of Class Traits:

  • Weapon Proficiency
  • Proficient Stance
  • Dedication

Only 1 Trait per category, Rank & Hero can be selected, unless Memory Potions are used. Marks allow Class Traits of one Hero to be shared with another.

For each Trait Rank, the Hero must attain a certain level for it to become available in the selection pool.

  1. Rank V: These traits are special in that only one can be picked per round across all variants, per Hero.
    • Potions of Memories can circumvent this restriction.
    • Using a Mark allows a Proficient Stance V or Dedication V trait of the Mark Hero to be picked, separately from the active Hero's Rank V trait.
    • Using a Potion of Oblivion on any Rank V trait will banish all Rank V traits of that Hero.
